Canada Post: information on delivery by postal services
Currently, the Canada Post strike is still ongoing, and the prospects for its resolution remain uncertain. To help sellers navigate the current state of affairs, we offer a brief digest of important aspects.
What’s going on? Canada Post employees are protesting against increased workloads and too low wages. Until a consensus is reached with the government, Canada Post is not accepting or processing mail.
How long can such a strike last? We don’t know. The last time in a similar case, the strike lasted more than a month.
What happens to the parcels? The packages that had already arrived in the country by the time the strike began are being stored at customs, sorting stations and local post offices. After the strike ends, all these parcels will be sorted and delivered to their recipients.
At the request of Canada Post, all national post offices in other countries have stopped accepting and processing shipments to Canada, as there is no place to store the parcels.
Which postal operators currently deliver across Canada?
All national postal services (Ukrposhta, Poczta Polska, USPS, etc.) cooperate with Canada Post and therefore do not currently deliver or process shipments to Canada. Most low-cost delivery services (Asendia, DDU, etc.) use the national post office for last-mile delivery and will not be able to help you either.
Services that can deliver your shipment: DHL, FedEx direct express, consolidation or warehouse shipments from UPS Standard, UPS Expedited.
For shipments from Ukraine, we also recommend using the services of Nova Poshta Global, which provides last-mile delivery by UPS in Canada. At the moment, special conditions apply for customers of this postal service when checking out through Seller Online: for parcels weighing up to 5 kg, the tariff is based on physical weight only, and in case of self-shipping (not through our warehouse in Kyiv), an additional discount of up to 10% will be granted.
We hope that your shipments will reach their recipients safely and that the strike will not spoil your or your customers’ Christmas celebrations.
